As for prepping for the new fishing year, I've come to the conclusion that none of the moderately priced low profile are worth a crap. My $150 Diawa Coastal Inshore lasted only 1 season. This this pitiful since I only get to fish maybe twice a month & take care of me equipment. So I've decided to go old school. I've picked up a Penn Peerless No. 9 conventional reel. I know it will take some learning but these older reels are American made & bulletproof. If I have good luck I may buy a few extras and refurbish them.
